Recruit is built around playing

From individual techniques to coordinated playing

Beginner separated and explained the individual elements. Recruit starts combining and automating them, turning them into music.

Every chapter: video→practical trainer→variations→checkpoint

Rhythmic combinations

Familiar note values, rests and accents come together in longer phrases.

you can feel

Feel 4/4, 3/4, 6/8 and optionally 7/8 with your body and ears before approaching them through numbers.

Strike and

A steady back-and-forth motion, accents, lighter strikes and omitted strikes.

Breath as a second layer

A breathing no longer has to follow every strike.

U [u]–O [o]–A [a]–E [ɛ]–I [i]

Deliberate changes in tone colour and your first independent tone pattern. Use pure vowel shapes; O [o] is not the English diphthong /oʊ/.

Layering and your own groove

Your hands do one thing, your breath another and your mouth a third — without losing the pulse.

Included in the programme

Beginner remains available for all 90 days

When a new combination falls apart, return to its individual layers. Beginner is therefore more than an entry requirement: it remains a practical reference throughout Recruit.

  • Completed Beginner → continue straight away.
  • Learned elsewhere → work through the foundation skills checklist.
  • 7/8 is a challenge, not a compulsory completion requirement.
